Unfortunately, I don't see many other battery options that perform any better.High-Capacity Battery for Dashcam Parking Mode I'm leaving review at 3 stars still as even 4 hours is much more than I would get using the power magic pro (set to 12.5v) on my car battery. The battery pack states it holds around 68Wh, so it should last 68/4 or around 17 hours from a fully charged state. In parking mode the DR900S says it uses which is about 4W. Something does not add up, either the batter does not have the capacity it actually reports, or the DR900S is using way more power in parking mode than the specifications show. After about 4 hours the battery was completely dead. I drove 50+ minutes and the battery indicated fully charged with about 16 hours of recording time remaining. Update: 9/10/21 I lowered my review down to 3 starts after observing what many others reported with a short battery life. ![]() I'm really hoping they release a firmware/software update to add that feature. I do with there was a setting to disable the discharge while parked in the garage at home. After about 20 minutes of driving the batter pack has enough juice to last for over 10 hours of recording time. Ended up biting the bullet for the battery pack and so far it has been working great. I found this ou t, as a brand new battery went bad after less than one year from using that setting. ![]() I used the 12.5v volt setting on the Battery Magic Pro, as setting it at the lower 12.0v is bad for the battery. I previously used the Blackvue Battery Magic Pro to have my dashcam record while parked, but found that it only would record for a few minutes at best before shutting down. Given the price of this battery, and the stated purpose of this thing-the low battery life makes it pretty much useless, not worth the trouble to install, let alone pay for. If you park in a shared, public garage overnight: unless you drive your car every day to charge the battery: it will not last long enough to cover you if you leave your car undriven. If your car is parked in your own garage, and do not need to worry about other drivers damaging your vehicle, then you can just turn it off when the car is at home, and turn it on when you are parking in unfamilar lots throughout the day: but having to turn the battery off when you arrive home so that it does not drain would be pretty annoying. If you drive the car every single day then you can probably jus t leave the battery on at all times - but if you do not: it will run out, and the camera will stop operating. The short battery life limits the usefulness of the camera severely. It will not run my camera in parking mode much more than 24 hours, if that. As others have noted: the battery life that this provides you is not even remotely adequate. ![]()
